How to find your eBay Store Category IDs and how to implement these using ChannelUnity

This article describes how to get your eBay listings created through ChannelUnity linked to an eBay store category.

What to do

The first step is to obtain your eBay Store Category IDs which are specific to your own eBay store:
You can find the IDs of your store categories through the Manage My Store page. From this page click the the Store Categories link which will display the top level store categories. At the bottom right of this list click All Categories to show all the categories along with any sub-categories. The category number will be displayed with each category.

The second step is to place the eBay Store Category ID into your website product data against the corresponding products.
To be able to save the store category ID it will require a custom field. (For Magento, you would create/reuse a custom attribute, Bigcommerce and Shopify would need a custom field or reuse an unused product field.)
Once you have updated your products and saved them, the category IDs will be available in ChannelUnity.
To confirm that your eBay Store Category IDs are showing, log into your ChannelUnity account, and go to the Listings page.
Find a product and click the View More Details button.
In the window that opens scroll down the page and you should see your category ID number.
If you do not see your data there, you can run a store sync procedure to bring the data in. (Setup > Online Stores > Green sync button) This can take some hours to run depending on the number of items you have in total.

Now you need to tell ChannelUnity the attribute which contains your eBay Store Category ID. To do this:

Click on Setup -> Describe Product Fields.

Scroll down to the Additional Fields section.

Add a field mapping: Select “eBay Store Category I D” from the marketplace field box, and select the corresponding attribute in your store from the second box.

Then click the Add button.

Click Complete

You have now completed the necessary steps to assign your eBay listings to your eBay store categories. To update your listings, you can reupload (click Live -> select products using the checkboxes -> With Selected -> Reupload Products).
