We calculate our fees based on a percentage of marketplace order revenue. Products that were not listed by ChannelUnity or orders that were not imported to your core system are not excluded from this. We understand that some customers may have questions about this.
We calculate our fees based on order value because we understand that revenue is the single most accurate measure of the importance of marketplace sales channels to your business. The revenue generated from channels connected through ChannelUnity tends to be the best measure of the value of the service that is being performed. As a result this is generally the most appropriate way to charge for our service.
We know that when ChannelUnity has not listed a product and has not imported the order for that product it can seem like ChannelUnity is charging for an order that is totally outside of the scope of our solution. If this type of scenario exists for your business you may feel that your ChannelUnity fee is being unfairly inflated. We can understand that perspective which is why we feel that it’s important to explain why these orders are included in service fee calculations.
In order to treat these orders differently, our solution needs to do more than it would if orders like this did not exist. It’s not possible for ChannelUnity to ignore these orders or their corresponding product listings by default. Our systems need to actively identify the orders and listings, store relevant data about them and continually filter these out from being impacted by normal ChannelUnity functions.
ChannelUnity has a responsibility to ensure that these orders and listings are left alone. We must also ensure that the speed of connection to your marketplace account is not reduced as a result of a continual deletion and recreation of orders over which ChannelUnity is not exercising direct control. At a fundamental level, our systems need to be more complicated and to work harder than would be the case if these orders did not exist.
The higher the number of these unconnected products/orders that exist, the harder the system has to work to take them into account. As a result the most appropriate way to reflect that in the fee for ChannelUnity services is to include them alongside orders over which the system has direct control.
We know that this can be a topic that requires more explanation. If you’d like more detail on why we price our service in this way then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at email@example.com
